It has been said that the Dal Bati originated during the time of Bappa Rawal as many Rajput Soldiers prefered this dish as their wartime meal. During the time of the War, all the Rajput Knights would break the wheat dough into small pieces and bury them under the sand in order to get them baked under the sun. On their return from war, they would dig out the Bati’s and consume them. In 2019, this Rajasthani Cuisine has been termed Asia’s healthiest food and was liked by people all around the world.
